Step 1: Navigate to Users

Log in to Puzzle and go to Settings → Company → Users

Step 2: Add a New User

  1. Click + Add User

  2. Enter the user's email address

  3. Choose whether to turn on Require two-factor authentication for this user (you can also set this individually later)

Step 3: Assign the Right Permissions

Select the appropriate role for the new user:

  • Full Access — Can edit integrations, manage the API, comment, and categorize transactions. Best for anyone fully managing your accounting workspace.

  • Partial Access — Can comment, categorize transactions, and download reports. Best for outsourced accounting firms, tax preparers, or internal finance team members.

  • Limited Access — Can view screens but cannot modify data or take actions that affect the financial statements. Best for non-accounting team members, board members, or advisors.

The new user will receive an email confirming their access.

Transferring Account Ownership

If you need to transfer ownership of the account to another user — for example, when offboarding or when an accountant or firm needs to hand the account back to a non-firm user:

  1. Go to Settings → Company → Users

  2. Find the user you want to make the new owner

  3. Open the Permissions menu for that user and select Transfer ownership (only the current owner sees this option)

⚠️ Accountants & Firms: Account ownership must be transferred to a non-firm user before the account can be deleted. See How to Delete My Account for more details.
