How to Invite Your Accounting Firm to Puzzle

Learn how to invite your accounting firm to Puzzle, send an access invitation, and track whether the firm’s status is pending or active.

Written by Michael Herchen

You can invite your accounting firm to access your Puzzle account so they can help manage your books, review transactions, and support your month-end close.

This guide walks you through how to send an invitation and track its status.

Please note: Inviting an accounting firm through this route requires the firm to be established in Puzzle as a firm.

If you are inviting a firm that is new to Puzzle or does not have access to the firm console, invite the firm users as individual users.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • Admin access in Puzzle

  • The correct admin email address for your accounting firm

💡 Tip: Confirm the correct email address with your accounting firm before sending the invite to avoid delays.

Step-by-Step: Invite Your Accounting Firm

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Click Company

  3. Select Accounting Firms

  4. Click + Invite Accounting Firm

  5. Enter the admin email address of your accounting firm

  6. Click Send Invite

What happens next?

Once the invitation is sent:

  • Your accounting firm will receive an email to accept the invite.

  • Until they accept, their status will show as Pending.

  • After they accept, their status will update to Active.

How to check invitation status

To check whether your accounting firm has accepted:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Click Company

  3. Select Accounting Firms

  4. Look at the Status column

  • Pending = Invite sent, not yet accepted

  • Active = Invite accepted, access granted

  • Inactive = Invite revoked, access not granted

Troubleshooting

The invite still says “Pending”

  • Confirm the email address was entered correctly.

  • Ask your accounting firm to check their inbox (and spam folder).

  • If needed, resend the invite.- If the firm is not registered in Puzzle, ensure they complete the onboarding process with the Puzzle Partnerships team.

  • If the accountant is not part of a registered firm, consider inviting them as an individual user instead.
