What are AI credits?
AI credits power Puzzle's AI features, including AI Close, AI Chat, and AI Cowork.
Each plan includes a set number of credits, and once you've used them, you can buy more without upgrading your plan.
Note: Credits never expire, so any credits you buy stay on your account until you use them.
When do I need to buy more credits?
You may want to buy more credits if:
You've used up your plan's included credits and see a low balance (e.g., "25 credits") in the app
You're running frequent AI Close tasks or bulk Accounting AI imports and want a buffer
You'd rather top up credits than upgrade to a higher plan tier
How to buy credits
There are two ways to get to the purchase flow:
Option 1: From Settings
Log in to Puzzle and go to Settings
Select Billing
Click Manage Billing
Click Buy Credits
Option 2: From AI Suite
Go to AI Suite > Close
Click Get more credits next to your credit balance
Both paths open the same Upgrade your plan or buy credits window. Make sure the Buy credits tab is selected (not Upgrade your plan).
Choosing a credit pack
Pick the pack that fits your usage:

Click Buy [X] credits on the pack you want, and follow the prompts to complete your purchase.
What happens after I buy credits?
Credits are added to your account instantly — no waiting for them to become available
You'll receive an invoice for the purchase
Credits are shared across all AI features (AI Close, Accounting AI, etc.) and never expire
