Migrating to Puzzle - FAQs

Q: If I’m on QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, or another accounting software, can you migrate me to Puzzle?
A: Yes! We use the same technique to migrate data to Puzzle as we use for QuickBooks Online. If we are transferring over files from an accounting system outside of QuickBooks Online, we will require a copy of your financial files in Excel, CSV, or PDF format.

Q: How long does the conversion take?

A: Typically 3-5 business days. In complex cases, it may take longer. When needed, we can also expedite the process for you.

Q: Can you migrate multiple years?

A: Yes, we can import multiple years.

Q: Should I connect my QBO account first or my bank accounts first?

A: The sequence of connections does not matter. The QBO integration simply provides us access to the data required, it does not automatically import journal entries to your Puzzle financials.

Q: Do you support multi-currency conversions?

A: No, currently Puzzle is built for US dollar single entity

Q: What is not migrated?

A: We currently do not migrate over your full custom chart of accounts; we do migrate specific accounts, when requested. Otherwise, everything will be mapped to Puzzle’s standard chart of accounts. We do not migrate historical data for:

  • Individual transactions

  • Invoices (AR)

  • Bills (AP)

  • Vendor information

Q: How much data can you transfer?

A: We can go back as far back as you need us to go. We ensure the ending balances in your Puzzle trial balance by month match your QuickBooks account totals by month. We post accurate summary-level journal entries directly into Puzzle (not the detailed transactions from QBO). Reliability is our top priority, so you can rest assured that your balance sheet and income statement will balance right from the start of the month.
