How to run a year-to-date (YTD) income statement in Puzzle

Get a single year-to-date Profit & Loss column, or monthly columns with a total, on screen or as a PDF, Excel or CSV export.

Overview

You can run a year-to-date (YTD) income statement directly in Puzzle, with no reformatting in Excel. Choose one total column for the year so far, or monthly columns with a total at the end.

One YTD total column

  1. On your Dashboard, go to Financial Statements and open the Profit & Loss.

  2. Set the date range from Jan 1 of the current year through today.

  3. Set View by to Totals only. You'll see a single column with your year-to-date totals.

  4. To download it, click Export, keep View by set to Totals only, pick your format (PDF, Excel or CSV) and click Export.

Monthly columns with a YTD total

  1. Set the Profit & Loss date range from Jan 1 through today.

  2. Click Export.

  3. Set View by to By Months (or By Quarters).

  4. Set Summary column to Sum Total. This adds a total column at the end of the report.

  5. Pick your format and click Export.

Other export options

  • Accounting basis: Cash or Accrual

  • Report level: Compact, Summary or Detailed

  • Summary column: Sum Total, or Absolute and Percent Change to compare periods

  • Export options: include account numbers or truncate decimals
