How to Archive Accounts in Puzzle

Learn how to archive an account in Puzzle when you can’t delete it. This guide walks through archiving an account from the Integrations page, finding the mapped account in the Chart of Accounts, and deactivating it so it no longer appears across Puzzle.

Written by Michael Herchen

Puzzle currently does not support deleting bank accounts.

Instead, you can archive an account, which effectively removes it from your workspace and prevents it from showing up across the product. If your goal is to remove unused accounts from view, this will help you out!

Archiving requires two steps:

  1. Archive the account from the Integrations page

  2. Deactivate the mapped account in the Chart of Accounts

Before You Start

When archiving an account, make sure you note which Chart of Accounts entry it’s mapped to, since you’ll need it in Step 2.

✅ Tip: The mapping is important so you deactivate the correct account in your Chart of Accounts.

Step 1 — Archive the Account (Integrations)

  1. Go to Integrations

  2. Find the account you want to archive
(Example: the top two accounts in the list)

  3. Click the gear icon ⚙️

4. Select Archive

5. Note the mapped Chart of Accounts account name (you’ll use this next)

Step 2 — Deactivate the Account (Chart of Accounts)

  1. Go to Accounting

  2. Click Chart of Accounts

  3. Search for the mapped account you noted in Step 1

  4. Select the three dots on the side

  5. Confirm the Deactivate toggle is available (it should be enabled after archiving)

  6. Click Deactivate

Once deactivated, the account will no longer show up across Puzzle pages.

Result

After completing both steps:

  • The account is archived

  • The mapped Chart of Accounts entry is deactivated

  • The account will not appear throughout the product
